Pre-Nationals Camp 2010 |
This year's Pre-Nationals training was small but achieved a lot for those who made the effort to attend. Jamie was able to provide a lot of personal attention to the 3 girls Elisabeth Powell, Fawn Lamb and Gwendolyn Graf SUI who worked really hard on tactical choices and competition situations. Warren coached the foilists on both days providing relevant drills designed to hone individual skills, advice on competition preparation and practical workshops to conduct analysis of poule and DE situations. Glen Golding gave up his weekend to provide individual lessons to all the foilists and their training was rounded off with Poule and DE fights using technical constraints to improve concentration and pre-set conditions to limit options.
Janet provided a "feel good" pilates session to warm down and stretch prior to everyone leaving and despite the initial disappointment from lack of turnout the camp generated a great response from fencers and coaches alike who all left feeling that they had achieved a great deal in 2 days. Good luck to all next week, you know what to do. For those who had better things to do this weekend - I don't want to hear any complaints if you fail to perform at the Nationals! |

Jamie, Janet and Adrian leave today as our advance party to prepare the accommodation and welcome the fencers on Sunday.
You can follow the progress of the camp on our club's Facebook page where daily blogs and photos will be posted. |

La Rochelle Trip 2010 |
The trip to La Rochelle, sadly, had to be cancelled this year. It will, however, run, bigger and better, in the Easter holidays 2010. For foil and épée fencers over 11, who are competing at whatever level, we will train with French (and possibly some Swiss, Italian and Ukrainian) fencers.
