European Championships Leipzig 2010 Print E-mail

Congratulations to Rhys Melia on his selection to his first Senior Championships for GB. Despite having been dropped from Pathway funding immediately after his fantastic result in Espinho where he beat GETZ USA to reach the Last 16 and achieve qualification status for the Euros, he has continued to believe in his ability to perform at the highest levels and has worked tirelessly to improve his fitness and fencing skills. This has been a team effort with Jamie providing daily drills in the garden, Glen squeezing in lessons between work in Bristol and his club mates sparring with him most evenings. A big thankyou to everyone who has supported Rhys this season and the selectors who have given him his chance to represent GB at senior level.
